History

Scitec Research SA was founded in 1979 by its current President, Dr. Alain Donzel, to provide instrumental analytical services to the chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries, and to environmental monitoring agencies.

A quality assurance program was established during the company’s formative years. Certification by the Department of Health in the State of New York was obtained in 1990 for quality control of drinking water. The laboratory has also been accredited since 1995, first in accordance with international standard EN45001, and, since 2002, in accordance with ISO / IEC 17025. More recently, in order to extend its services to the pharmaceutical industry, the company obtained Swissmedic approval in 2010.

Additionally, between 1990 and 1999 a laboratory robotics department was created, with the objective of conducting mass screening for drug discovery research. This led to the formation of a new company focused on developing automated solutions for the life science industry: Scitec Automation SA, also headquartered in Lausanne. Soon thereafter, the company founded subsidiaries in the U.S. and Holland. Scitec Automation SA was subsequently sold to Zymark in August 1999, which merged with Caliper Life Sciences in 2003 and was acquired by PerkinElmer in 2013.

From 1999 to the present, Scitec Research activities have focused on instrumental analysis, the development of new analytical technologies, and scientific consulting services.
